His brothers [[Yahia Badreddin al-Houthi]] and [[Abdul-Karim Badreddin Al-Houthi]] are also leaders of the group, as was his late brother [[Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi]]. Abdul-Malik Houthi is the leading figure in a revolution starting in the Sa'dah province in northern Yemen, which has been continuing from 2004 to the present day. The uprising has been called the Houthi Rebellion due to his leadership. The Zaidi community comprises around half of the population of Yemen, concentrated in the north. In traditional Zaidi religious belief, if there is no clear leader for the Zaidi community, an Imam/Caliph can emerge through armed struggle. Yemen was formerly ruled by a Zaidi Imamah/Caliphate that ended in 1962. ==References== *[https://www.reuters.com/article/yemen-security-usa-pompeo-int-idUSKBN29G0A4 Pompeo says intends to designate Yemen's Houthi movement as foreign terror group], Reuters *[http://www.mg.co.za/article/2009-09-29-yemeni-rebel-leader-denies-seeking-shiite-state Yemeni rebel leader denies seeking Shi'ite state] [[Category:Modern Villains]] [[Category:Villains of Yemeni Civil War]] [[Category:War Criminal]] [[Category:Warlords]] [[Category:Successful]] [[Category:Leader]] [[Category:Military]] [[Category:Middle Eastern Villains]] [[Category:Anti-Christian]] [[Category:Anti-Catholic]] [[Category:Islam]] [[Category:Living Villains]] [[Category:Yemen]] [[Category:Weapon Dealer]] [[Category:Evil vs. Evil]] [[Category:Tyrants]] [[Category:Male]] [[Category:Anti-Semitic]] [[Category:Abusers]] [[Category:Kidnapper]] [[Category:Terrorists]] [[Category:Conspirators]] [[Category:Murderer]] [[Category:Xenophobes]] [[Category:Fanatics]]
