Abdullah Maute: Difference between revisions

During the Battle of Marawi, the Philippine army claimed that the Maute brothers had all been killed in a firefight, although this account was rejected after footage emerged of Omar Maute after his alleged death. On 4th September 2017, the Philippine army stated that Abdullah Maute had been killed in an airstrike in August, citing ISIS supporters proclaiming his martyrdom on social media. The Filipino government later confirmed that all of the Maute brothers except Omar were dead. Following Omar's death alongside former [[Abu Sayyaf]] leader [[Isnilon Hapilon]], Maute group was reported as being "practically wiped out" due to the death of the Maute brothers.
