Adam Grünewald

Adam Grünewald was a Nazi Party official who was the commandant of Herzogenbusch concentration camp in 1943, in which he succeeded Karl Chmielewski as commander.
He was imprisoned and tried for war crimes one year after he was commandant in January 1944. He was found guilty of excessive cruelty to prisoners. He was eventually pardoned after serving nearly a month in prison, but was removed of his military rank and ordered to fight as a common soldier.
He was killed in action on January 22, 1945.
