Ahmed Hussein al-Shar’a (Arabic: أحمد حسين الشرع‎), known by the nom de guerre Abu Mohammad al-Julani (Arabic: أبو محمد الجولاني‎), is a Syrian revolutionary, politician, and former paramilitary commander who has served as the president of Syria since 29 January 2025. He previously served as the commander-in-chief of the Syrian militant Islamist group Tahrir al-Sham and was also the emir of its predecessor organisation al-Nusra Front, the Syrian branch of al-Qaeda. The phrase "Al-Julani" in his nom de guerre is a reference to Syria's Golan Heights, partially occupied and annexed by Israel during the war in 1967. Al-Julani released an audio statement on 28 September 2014, in which he stated he would fight the "United States and its allies" and urged his fighters not to accept help from the West in their battle against ISIS.

In the summer of 2020, al-Julani made frequent public appearances around Idlib in an attempt to gain support from the population. Video output by HTS-affiliated media increased significantly throughout mid-2020, multiple videos being published daily, showing governance videos, distribution of taxations in rural villages, frontline videos, and Julani meeting with local militia groups.

In recent years, al-Sharaa has presented a more moderate view of himself, suggesting he has no urge to wage war against Western nations, and has vowed to protect Syria's minorities.
Al-Sharaa played a key role in the 2024 Syrian opposition offensives which led to the fall of the Assad regime and the establishment of the Syrian transitional government. As the emir of HTS, al-Sharaa launched an 11-day offensive against the Assad regime in November 2024 which saw swift victories in Aleppo, Hama, Homs, and Damascus.
After the fall of the Assad regime, Israel invaded the buffer zone in southwestern Syria, near the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights. After Bashar al-Assad fled to Russia on 8 December 2024, al-Sharaa became Syria's de facto leader until 29 January 2025, when he was appointed president of Syria at the Syrian Revolution Victory Conference held in the presidential palace. As president, al-Sharaa announced plans to issue a "constitutional declaration" as a legal reference following the repeal of the Ba'athist era constitution and made multiple official visits to other countries.
