He abandoned the fight for independence and switched to the historic russian aggressor side in 2000, elected in a rigged election in 2003, he presided over Chechnya as a colony of Russia. On the occasion of the victory day Akhmad attended the stadium in Grozny but was killed by Chechens by a land mine considering him a traitor.
