== Murder == On 8 April 2015, Guode was seen driving her SUV erratically near Wyndham Vale lake, where it suddenly made a U-Turn and drove into the water. Guode then got out and watched as the car sank. Emergency serives were called and managed to save her six-year-old daughter, but her other three children, Bol, Madit and Anger, all drowned. Guode was arrested after the crash was determined to be intentional, and charged with two counts of filicide, one count of infanticide and one count of attempted filicide. She pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 26 years in prison. Guode appealed the sentence on the grounds of mental trauma she suffered, and her sentence was reduced to 16 years, however this decision was later overturned by the Australian High Court.
