Alice Elisabeth Weidel was born on February 6th 1979 in Gütersloh and grew up in Harsewinkel and graduated from Versmold's CJD high school. There, she studied political and business economics at the University of Bayreuth. From July 2005 to June 2006 you worked as a private equity analyst at Goldman Sachs in Frankfurt am Main. In December 2016, during the talk show Menschen bei Maischberger, he claimed that Angela Merkel was co-responsible for the murder of a young woman in Freiburg im Breisgau. The talk show host was later criticized for giving Weidel space to talk during the show. Following Weidel's speech during his nomination as top candidate, in which he incited the fear of "groping strangers" and incited a commitment to "our values and our identity" he was defined by Alan Posener in the newspaper Die Welt as "the future of the AfD, the new Petry. Charismatic, good looking, intelligent, with good rhetoric and apparently willing to sacrifice principles in the name of power".

At the beginning of March 2017 she was defeated in the election for regional representative at the AfD regional congress by Ralf Özkara. In April 2017, during the national party congress held in Cologne, she was nominated top candidate for the 2017 Bundestag elections together with party president Alexander Gauland.
