Andrew Beadie is a young man who stabbed a police officer in November 2016 at the age of 20. The attack occurred near the Bow Bells pub in eastern London. Beadie punched a stranger to the ground for no other reason than having bumped into him. He then got talking to the police officer, who was in plain clothes; he claimed the officer was looking at his girlfriend and stabbed him three times in the gut with a 10" blade.
Beadie was acquitted of attempted murder and is serving a 12-year sentence for inflicting grievous bodily harm. He claimed at trial he thought the officer was a crack cocaine addict about to attack him.
Beadie was also convicted of assaulting the man he punched, even though the victim of the assault was never traced.
