Weiner served as the U.S. representative for New York's 9th congressional district from 1999 until his resignation in 2011. He resigned in June 2011 due to sexting allegations to various women. Weiner later pleaded guilty in 2017 for sexting to minors. He was eventually sentenced to 21 months in prison and required to permanently register as a sex offender. Weiner was released in 2019.
