Biography
Quiboloy was born as Apollo Carreon Quiboloy on April 25, 1950 in Buhangin, Davao City to José Quiboloy y Turla and María Carreón y Quinto. He is the youngest among his 9 other siblings. In his later years, he became a member of the United Pentecostal Church until his establishment of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ.
The Kingdom of Jesus Christ, The Name Above Every Name and SMNI
On September 1, 1985, Quiboloy established the Kingdom of Jesus Christ, gaining critical responses due to his claims of being the "Appointed Son of God" and having divine intervention such as telling the public should thank him for "stopping" the 2018 Cotabato earthquake. Every weekdays, members hold bible sessions and prayers. While every Sunday, a so-called "Global Worship" is held.
His church has its own broadcasting network known as the Sonshine Media Network International (SMNI) which began airing in 1991.
Controversies
The New People's Army has accused Quiboloy of being the ringleader of the massacre of Datu Domingo Diarog and his family on 2008, due to a refusal in selling two hectares of their property to Quiboloy's sect. As Quiboloy denied allegations, he labelled them as "Satan's children" while in return, the NPA declared him as a "Warlord in service of Arroyo's administration". According to the investigations, armed men affiliated with Quiboloy has been said to harassed Diarog and razed his farmhouse many times.
On November 2021, the United States Department of Justice charged Quiboloy and numerous other church members of human trafficking. He was charged for allegedly coercing girls aged 12-25 to engage in sexual affairs with him and running a human trafficking operation. The indictment claimed that Quiboloy has physically abused them and threatened them of "eternal damnation" via the fraudulent Californian charity known as "Children's Joy". It was also indicated that his US assets contained numerous ill-gotten wealth coming from the church donations.
As of February 5, 2022, Apollo Quiboloy is listed as a Wanted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
