Ariel Castro (July 10, 1960 - September 3, 2013) was a Puerto Rican man who kidnapped, raped, and held local women Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus, and Michelle Knight in his Cleveland, Ohio home for 10, 9, and 11 years, respictively. On May 6th, 2013, the three women whom he abducted escaped their confinement with the help of neighbor Charles Ramsey and police officers. Recently, he has been found guilty and sentenced to life in prison. His house was eventually demolished on August 7, 2013.
On September 3rd, 2013, he was found dead hanging in his cell at the Correctional Reception Center in Orient, Ohio, 15 miles away from Columbus. The cause of death is listed as suicide.
