Ariel Castro is an Ohio man who kidnapped, raped, and held local women Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus, and Michelle Knight in his Cleveland home for 10 years. On May 6th, 2013, the three women whom he abducted escaped their confinement with the help of neighbor Charles Ramsey and police officers. Recently, he has been found guilty and sentenced to life in prison.
On September 3rd, 2013, he was found dead hanging in his cell. The cause of death is listed as suicide.
