'''Augustin Ngirabatware''' is a Rwandan politician who participated in the [[Rwandan Genocide]] and has been convicted by the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda.

Ngirabatware was born in 1957. He is an ethnic [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hutu Hutu] from [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gisenyi Gisenyi] commune and the son-in-law of [[Felicien Kabuga]].

At the time of the genocide, Ngirabatware was serving Rwandan's Minister of Planning in the government of [[Juvénal Habyarimana]], and was a member of the Gisenyi provincial committee for the [[MRND]] party.

Ngirabatware was arrested in [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frankfurt_am_Main Frankfurt am Main], [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Germany Germany] on 17 September 2007 and transferred to the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda in October 2008.

On 20 December 2012, he was found guilty of genocide, direct and public incitement to commit genocide and rape as a crime against humanity and sentenced to 35 years in jail. His sentence was reduced to 30 years on appeal two years later after his rape conviction was quashed. In 2019 the remainder of his convictions were upheld and he was imprisoned in a UN detention centre in Tanzania. In 2021 he was transferred to a secure prison in Senegal.
