The Axis Powers managed to gain amounts of Europe, Africa, East, and Southeast Asia and the Pacific Oceans during the height of their power but were ultimately defeated at the end of World War II with the fall of the Nazis in Europe and later the [[atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki]] by the United States. Although the Axis Powers were an alliance each member had different ideas of how to shape the world, the only thing they seemed to share in common was their enemy: the Allies (as well as democracy in general).
