It is not our job. Our job is to look at what the people need at present.|Bongbong Marcos}}Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr. (born September 13, 1957), commonly referred to as Bongbong Marcos (BBM), is a Filipino politician who is the 17th and incumbent president of the Philippines, serving since 2022 and until 2028. He previously served as a senator from 2010 to 2016. He is the second child and only son of former president, dictator, and kleptocrat Ferdinand Marcos Sr. and former first lady Imelda Marcos. In 2021, Marcos Jr. announced his intention to run for president of the Philippines in the 2022 elections, under the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) and is willing to " Change " the Philippines history in honor to his own father. He ran under the banner of the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas party, assuming chairmanship of the party on the same day, while also being endorsed by his former party, the Kilusang Bagong Lipunan. Marcos Jr. filed his certificate of candidacy before the Commission on Elections the following day. On May 9, 2022, Bongbong Marcos and Sara Duterte, the daughter of Rodrigo Duterte, won the presidency and vice presidency respectively through pre-programmed results, becoming the second presidential and vice presidential candidates to be elected through a tandem, with the first being the Gloria Arroyo-Noli de Castro tandem, who also coincidentally cheated the results to make Arroyo win. This also marks the return of the Marcos family to power for the first time since the People Power Revolution. The Congress of the Philippines met on May 25 to canvass the results and formally proclaimed Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. and Sara Duterte the winners of the election. Marcos took office on June 30, 2022 at the National Museum in Manila, succeeding Rodrigo Duterte as the President, and will serve a 6-year term until June 30, 2028. ==History== ===Early Life=== Bongbong Marcos was born as Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr. on September 13, 1957 to Ferdinand Marcos Sr. and Imelda Marcos. He had two other siblings: Imee and Irene. ===2016 vice presidential campaign, Elections 2016 === On October 5, 2015, Marcos announced via his website his candidacy for vice president of the Philippines in the 2016 general election stating "I have decided to run for vice president in the May 2016 elections." Marcos ran as an independent candidate. Prior to his announcement, he had declined an invitation by presidential candidate, Vice President Jejomar Binay, to become his running mate. On October 15, 2015, presidential candidate Miriam Defensor Santiago confirmed that Marcos would serve as her running mate. Marcos placed second in the tightly contested vice presidential race losing to Camarines Sur Representative Leni Robredo, who won by a margin of 263,473 votes, one of the closest since Fernando Lopez's victory in the 1965 vice presidential election. ====Election results protests==== Marcos challenged the results of the election, lodging an electoral protest against Leni Robredo on June 29, 2016, the day before Robredo's oathtaking. President Rodrigo Duterte has stated several times that he would resign if Marcos would be his successor instead of Vice President Leni Robredo. A recount began in April 2018, covering polling precincts in Iloilo and Camarines Sur, which were areas handpicked by Marcos' camp. In October 2019, the tribunal found that Robredo's lead grew by around 15,000 votes – a total of 278,566 votes from Robredo's original lead of 263,473 votes – after a recount of ballots from the 5,415 clustered precincts in Marcos' identified pilot provinces. On February 16, 2021, the PET unanimously dismissed Bongbong Marcos' electoral protest against Leni Robredo. ====Debate 2022==== In the recent events, Marcos skipped the Comelec 2022 Presidential debates as he preferred to focus on his campaign, while in reality he is avoiding the debates because he wanted to ignore and avoid criticism against him, especially from the outgoing Vice-President Leni Robredo who is also his fellow political opponent, this is why he is encouraging his supporters to Smear, mock, demonize and insult her through propaganda and lies through the Internet. This method made him Presidency without attending any political debates as he won the Elections via cheating in May 9, 2022. In the latter, he would have new summit talks with Kim Jong-un in the future. ===Martial Law denialism=== As with other Marcos family members who have stayed in the public eye since their return to the Philippines, Marcos has received significant criticism for instances of historical denialism, and his trivialization of the human rights violations and economic plunder that took place during the Marcos administration, and of the role he played in the administration. Specific criticisms have been leveled at Marcos for being unapologetic for human rights violations and ill-gotten wealth during his father's administration. When victims of human rights abuses during his father's administration commemorated the 40th year of the proclamation of martial law in 2012, Marcos Jr. dismissed their calls for an apology for the atrocities as "self-serving statements by politicians, self-aggrandizement narratives, pompous declarations, and political posturing and propaganda." In the Sydney Morning Herald later that year, Bongbong cited the various court decisions against the Marcos family as a reason not to apologize for Martial Law abuses, saying "we have a judgment against us in the billions. What more would people want?" During his 2016 campaign to become vice president, Marcos responded to then-President Noynoy Aquino's criticism of the Marcos regime and call to oppose his election run. He dismissed the events, saying Filipinos should "leave history to the professors." This prompted over 500 faculty, staff and history professors from the Ateneo de Manila University to immediately issue a statement condemning his dismissive retort as part of "an ongoing willful distortion of our history," and a "shameless refusal to acknowledge the crimes of the Martial Law regime." More than 1,400 Catholic schools, through the Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP), later joined the call of the Ateneo faculty "against the attempt of [Marcos] to canonize the harrowing horrors of martial rule." This was also followed by the University of the Philippines Diliman's Department of History, which released a statement of its own, decrying what they called a "dangerous" effort for Marcos to create "myth and deception." On September 20, 2018, Marcos Jr. released a YouTube video showing a tête-à-tête between him and former Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile, where he asked Enrile, who had been his father's defense minister before playing a key role in his ouster during the 1986 EDSA revolution. The video made a number of claims, which were quickly refuted and denounced by martial law victims, including former Senate President Aquilino Pimentel Jr., former Social Welfare Secretary Judy Taguiwalo, former Commission on Human Rights chair Etta Rosales, and writer Boni Ilagan, among others. Enrile later backpedaled from some of his claims, attributing them to "unlucid intervals." It would be comparable to Holocaust denial, Armenian Genocide denial, Japanese War Crime denial and Tiananmen Square Massacre denials, which was used as a Propaganda tool to demonize the victims of the Martial Law and survivors. ===2022 Philippine Elections=== Ferdinand Marcos Jr., along with his running mate Sara Duterte cheated their way to win the presidency and vice presidency in the 2022 Philippine Elections on May 9, 2022, with the help of an all-Duterte appointed COMELEC, pre-programmed vote counting machines/SD cards and Dennis Uy's F2 Logistics, with the results having been pre-programmed to make them pretend 30+ million voted for them, along with an extremely fast transmission, that after an hour, there were already 20+ million votes for the UniTeam Alliance, when in fact, there were more than 15,035,773 who actually voted for his rival, Leni Robredo. With many of the surveys having released their results with him leading by mostly 59%, as well as the extremely fast transmission of the election results were certain evidences that the 2022 elections were already pre-cooked and planned in favor of the Marcos Jr.-Duterte tandem, essentially, manipulating the results in favor of the said tandem. The elections were known to be one of the dirtiest elections in the Philippines, however, the COMELEC, having been all Duterte appointees and having rigged the results in their favor, defended the cheating, claiming that it is clean, and honest, and that the transmission is due to preparation, when in fact, the SD cards were already pre-programmed to favor the UniTeam Alliance. The International Observer Mission's has said that the 2022 elections have failed to meet the international standard of a free, honest & fair election. === As a President (2022-2028)=== Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. was officially elected the 17th President of the Republic of the Philippines on May 25, 2022 along with his running mate Sara Duterte as the 15th Vice President of the Republic of the Philippines, and they took office on June 30, 2022, succeeding Rodrigo Duterte, and currently serves until June 30, 2028. Prior to his inauguration, the Supreme Court dismissed petitions against him, allowing him to take office as planned. The Pasasalamat concert, with only 2,100 attendees, compared to the large crowds of Leni Robredo's rallies, further proves that 31 million votes for Marcos Jr. were already pre-programmed and not actual people who voted for him. He also failed to show up in the said event following his inauguration. A lot of things will/may change in his administration. Such as the promotion of Historical Revisionism and Negationism to rehabilitate the actions which was done by his father, making the Anniversary of Martial Law as a National Holiday and plans to bring it back, spreading of Propaganda through Internet against the Yellows and Pinks which supports the late Presidents Noynoy Aquino and Cory Aquino (whose ironically a member of PDP-Laban) and former Vice President Leni Robredo, the Liberal Party; the cancellation of EDSA People Power revolution anniversary the same holiday which ousted his Father, allowing the Corruption and cronyism in the Philippines; making the Filipinos more poorer by making lies of false Promises, allowing the surrender of Philippines' national sovereignity and territories to the Communist-controlled Mainland China and Conspiring with Chinese Communist Party. The weaponization of Facebook, Twitter, TikTok and YouTube played a key role for Marcos Jr. to gain support from Filipino people, with the help of his supporters who posed as Trolls using Fake accounts and ficticious names, more importantly with assistance of the Cambridge Analytica for spreading lies and misinformation of Marcos family to whitewash the atrocities made by his father unlike the honest yet controversial politicians from Liberal Party including the late Noynoy Aquino, secretary Mar Roxas and Vice President Leni Robredo, as well as current Senator Grace Poe and among others who oppose the Marcosses and Dutertes as well. It is possible that BBM may scrap the 1987 Constitution and return to the 1973 Constitution which was made by his father. If it happens, this would make Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr. the Eternal President of the Philippine Republic in the future. The world leaders, the USA, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, Europe and Canada will have disdain over BBM in the future. He will probably and possibly have summit talks along with Xi Jinping, Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong-un to turn against the USA and its western nations to make Philippines isolate itself from all other countries except for these three. In his State of the Nation Adress, he ordered the return of the Mandatory ROTC forcing many students and undiciplined youth to enter the Military reserve force, despite the fact that solving Reviving the mandatory ROTC won't solve the Educational crisis of the Philippines. ===Online presence === Marcos maintains a YouTube channel, and accounts on Twitter and Facebook. In December 2016, Marcos celebrated a Christmas party with his online supporters. According to research by Vera Files, Marcos benefited the most from fake news from the Philippines in 2017, along with President Rodrigo Duterte. Most viral news were driven by shares on networks of Facebook pages. Also, most Philippine audience Facebook pages and groups spreading online disinformation bore "Duterte", "Marcos" or "News" in their names and are pro-Duterte. In July 2020, Brittany Kaiser alleged in an interview that Marcos had approached the controversial firm Cambridge Analytica in order to "rebrand" the Marcos family image on social media. Marcos' spokesperson Vic Rodriguez denied these allegations and stated that Marcos is considering filing libel charges against Rappler, which published Kaiser's interview. == Trivia:== *According to his wife Liza Marcos, she stated that Marcos Jr. decided to run for president while watching an MCU film Ant-Man (2015), a film about Scott Lang, a former convicted thief turned Superhero. * According to Mister C F, he is sometimes called "Dear Leader" by his loyalists, comparable to Kim Jong-Il, yet he is comparable to him. It is possible that Bongbong Marcos may have a summit talk with Kim Jong-Un in the future. *His critics and members of the opposition called him as the Hitler of the Philippines.
