Book burning is the practice of burning books and other written documents for various reasons. The most common reason for why a book would be destroyed is often because the book threatened the common grounds of its audience. Many people are pejorative for certain books, and they feel that getting rid of these works was necessary for the well-being of their citizens. Many oppressive countries practice book burning in order to prevent any threats to their power. Ray Bradbury's 1953 novel, Fahrenheit 451, greatly employs this idea. ==See also== * Quran Burning
