Brendan Smyth (8 June 1927 – 22 August 1997) was a Irish child molester and rapist, using his position as priest in the Roman Catholic Church to obtain access to his victims for 40 years. Smyth sexually abused and indecently assaulted over 100 children in parishes in Belfast, Dublin and the United States. He was arrested in 1994 and died in 1997.
