In 2009, Cobb came under fire when neo-Nazi Keith Luke murdered two people and raped a woman as well as injuring another in Brockton ,Massachusetts. The victims were all of Cape Verdean descent. Luke said to police that every non-white person was a problem to him, and wanted to get rid of them all. He said he was motivated after reading an article about "the demise of the white race" on Podblanc. Luke also stated that had he not been caught by police he would have shot up a Synagogue that same day.

In 2012, Cobb relocated to North Dakota because of its supply of high paying jobs at oil fields and high portion of white residents. In August 2013 he moved to the very small of Leith where he purchased 13 plots of land for $500 each. He would then post an advertisement on Vanguard News Network announcing his plans to build a community based on white nationalist ideals and as he puts it "a community where you always find like minded residents." He also planned on renaming the town to "Cobbsville". His map also showed plans of his building a park dedicated to William Luther Pierce. This attracted notable members of the white power movement such as Tom Metzger, Alex Linder, April Gaede, and Jeff Schoep. Cobb had given them their own plots of land. Jeff Schoep had also brought several members of the National Socialist Movement with him, where they planned on moving the groups headquarters to Leith. The NSM had a meeting with Cobb at the town in September 2013 which gained lots of attention from news outlets as well as bringing in a large crowd of counter-protestors. Cobb became more open about his plans with him even going on local radio stations to announce it. During this time Cobb had officially moved in his first family, Kyann Dutton, a member of the National Socialist Movement along with his wife and 5 kids. Residents of Leith and surrounding communities banded together to try and stop Cobb and began fearing for their lives when Cobb was harassing and making threats to residents and posting personal information of them online. Cobbs plan also attracted filmmakers to fly out to North Dakota to document the event which would be seen in the 2015 film Welcome to Leith.
