Cristián Alejandro Contreras Radovic (born 21 December 1969), better known by his nickname "Dr. File", is a former Chilean journalist and politician, known for spreading conspiracy theories and pseudosciences in different media.
Biography edit
Radovic was born in 1969 in the city of Viña del Mar, and is the brother of actress Ángela Contreras. His grandfather was an immigrant from Montenegro (at that time part of Yugoslavia).
After studying at the Gabriela Mistral University and the Autonomous University of Barcelona, he began his journalistic career at the Chilean television channel La Red, where he had different programs where he spoke about conspiracy theories. He was also a correspondent for the US network NBC for a time. He also work for the Chilevisión channel during 2018.
In 2020, he abandoned his journalistic career to dedicate himself to politics, founding the political party United Centre of a spiritualist nature and declaring himself an enemy of right-wing and left-wing politicians. The party would be legalized a year later.
Radovic tried to be a presidential candidate for the 2021 elections, however, he did not reach the necessary signatures to register his candidacy, so he decided to run for senator. In the senatorial elections he only obtained 2.67% of the votes, which was insufficient to be elected.
Villany edit
Radovic is known for spreading conspiracy theories, many of which are false, and is repeatedly accused of misinforming his followers with fake news. Also many of the spiritual practices that he spreads are of doubtful quality.
Radovic is known to be a fervent COVID denier. He has said that vaccines are a mechanism to harm society and that they are a means of mind control by international organizations. He also says that as more people get infected, people will get more immunity and that the deaths of people from COVID are a lesser sacrifice. During his election campaign, he was criticized several times for not wearing a mask in public, and also uploaded a video showing him breaking a mask.
Radovic is also known to be an HIV/AIDS denier. In a 2014 interview, Radovic said that "AIDS is one of the biggest lies in the world", excusing himself that HIV does not cause AIDS, but rather that what causes AIDS are the drugs that doctors give to fight the disease.
Radovic was also criticized for including among his party members Francisco Pulgar, a guy who is currently being investigated for raping a minor.
He can also be considered a hypocrite, since despite the fact that the United Centre speech says "fight the right-wing and left-wing", for the 2021 parliamentary elections the party formed the "United Independent" coalition together with the National Citizen Party, a far-right Christian conservative party.
