He served as a member of the West Virginia House of Delegates for the 19th district from December 1, 2020, to January 9, 2021. He had previously run for the same seat in 2016, placing sixth out of seven in the Democratic primary, and ran in the general election as a Libertarian and lost. In 2020, he was elected as a Republican to represent the two-member House District 19, alongside Democratic candidate Ric Griffith.

Evans participated in the [[2021 United States Capitol storming|2021 United States Capitol attack,]] an action for which he has been criminally charged. He was arrested on January 8, 2021. He resigned from the House of Delegates on January 9.
