Diana Medley is a special education teacher at Sullivan High School in Indiana who wants to introduce a straight-only prom outside of the school setting that would exclude students from attending with a same-sex date. According to her, many locals are offended by homosexuality. Medley, who believes everyone is born straight, disapproves of homosexuality, saying that "life's circumstances made them choose it." She believes God created everyone equal. “We don’t agree with it. It’s offensive to us,” the straights-only prom advocate said. Medley was asked this question (direct quote from the video): "...you know, if a gay person... do you consider them maybe, ah, they have some sort of purpose in life; do you think it's just a..." (video seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_Z7OfxzUJc). “I personally don’t. I'm sorry. I don't... I just don't understand it,” the special education teacher answered. In another clip dubbed in immediately after that point, she says this: “A gay student -- or adult -- isn’t going to come up and make some change unless it’s to realize, you know what, it was a choice, and I'm choosing God.” Although some have interpreted her response as saying she believes gays have no purpose in life, it is interesting that she had also just clearly indicated, in a clip directly before that point, that she believes God has them, too, in her life for a reason. The clip that follows highlights what she actually seems to be disagreeing with -- that they were "born that way." She believes the only way they will make a change is if they realize they do have a choice. An additional video created about Diana, using much of the same video but without the audio of "the question," can be seen here: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/02/12/anti-gay-diana-medley-billy-madison-video_n_2671353.html
