Donald Neilson also known as "The Black Panther" was an armed robber and murderer. Following three murders during robberies of sub offices from 1971 to 1974 his last victim was Lesley Whittle. He was arrested later that year and sentenced to life imprisonment. Unlike other robbers Neilson worked alone and was imprisoned until his death in 2011 from Motor Neurone Disease
