'''Edison Bala''' is an Albanian national who sexually assaulted an unidentified woman in a nightclub in East Kilbride, UK, in May 2018, leaving her bleeding and traumatised. He approached the woman and placed his hand up her skirt before penetrating her with his fingers, causing anal bleeding. The victim was reportedly left depressed and suicidal after the assault, but ultimately came forward. Bala was identified and arrested, but was released on remand on 14 January 2020 after his trial was delayed due to an Albanian interpreter not being present. After his trial was resumed, his victim testified against him in court, and he was convicted as a result. On 26 February 2020, he was sentenced to one year in prison and compelled to register as a sex offender.
