Elizabeth Holmes was the disgraced CEO and founder of Theranos, a currently-defunct health technology company that rose to popularity after it was told to have revolutionized blood testing by utilizing methods that take small volumes of blood. Prior to being the founder of Theranos, Holmes was former Stanford student who majored in chemical engineering. She was a student researcher and lab assistant for the campus' college of engineering, until she eventually dropped out in 2004. Her remaining tuition money was eventually used to fund for Theranos.
Downfall

She was evenutally found guilty of four counts of wire fraud. She is currently awaiting sentencing.
