*He banned growing beards due to the association of Orthodox Christianity and Islam.
*He was initally supported by Yugoslav dictator [[Josip Broz Tito]], joining a partisan unit in 1942. However, he later became paranoid of Tito's desire to take over Albania with the help of pro-Yugoslav Albanian officers. After Tito broke with the Soviet Union, Hoxha remained a loyal ally to Moscow, later deeming Titoism to be "anti-Marxist" as it had been open with Western Europe.
