== Before The Shooting == Eric and Dylan were victims of many relentless attacks of violence that led to the attack and some accounts say that Dylan had a cup of fecal matter thrown at him. One time in the lunchroom Dylan and Eric were confronted by a group of youths at the schoolâall members of the football teamâwho had pelted them with ketchup and mustard-covered tampons while referring to the pair as "faggots" and "queers". Klebold, in personal writings found after the attack, expressed suicidal thoughts and was deeply saddened by his lack of a romantic relationship. There was also a lot of rage simmering under the surface as well, which appeared in the violent essays he wrote for English class and the stories and poems he wrote for his creative writing class -- all of which often featured blood, death, and war. Another ominous sign of things to come, Klebold and Harris made a video of them acting as vigilantes shooting âjocksâ in the school hallways for a school project. They believed that their actions would bring them fame as well as vengeance. In one of the videotapes made by the pair, Klebold said âI hope we kill 250 of youâ and Harris compared the killings to one of their favorite video games, Doom, as reported in Time magazine. They even discussed which director should handle the film version of their attack. Three days before the shooting Dylan's prom date for the night was friend Robyn K. Anderson, whom he'd met some years before at a Christmas party. She was attending the event with him as his friend; not a love interest. Despite early media reports, Robyn and Dylan were not romantically involved. Robyn proudly boasted to another male friend shortly before the prom: "I convinced my friend Dylan, who hates dances, jocks and has never had a date let alone a girlfriend to go with me! I am either really cute or just really persuasive!". It was Robyn Anderson who helped purchase the two shotguns and the rifle that were used in the assault. She acted as a middleman in a "straw sale" to purchase the guns for them since Dylan and Eric were not 18 at the time (the legal age to purchase a firearm in Colorado) but Robyn was. Shortly before the purchase, the owner of Dragon Arms gun shop in Littleton reported that five teenagers tried to purchase an M-60 machine gun and a silencer-equipped assault pistol in early March. The five appeared on a store surveillance videotape that was turned over to the police but it hasn't been made known if any of the teens was Dylan or Eric. A year before the massacre, Eric, Dylan, Chris Morris, and another friend, Columbine graduate Cory Friesen, helped close down a firework stand. In return, they all got fireworks. Eric and Dylan took at least ten boxes of fireworks and soon began using them to construct and build pipe bombs. === Hitmen for Hire === In December 1998, Harris and Klebold made Hitmen for Hire, a video for a school project in which they swore, yelled at the camera, made violent statements, and acted out shooting and killing students in the hallway of their school as Hitmen for Hire. They both displayed themes of violence in their creative writing projects for school; of a Doom-based story written by Harris on January 17th, 1999, Harris's teacher said: "Yours is a unique approach and your writing works in a gruesome way â good details and mood setting." === Eric in Columbine === Eric in Columbine is one of several home videos released to the public by Jefferson County. In the video, which is originally twenty-five minutes and nine seconds long, Eric Harris is seen walking on the Columbine High School second floor with friends before heading to the cafeteria to converse. The tape ends with him heading to a class with Brandi Tinklenberg and Mike Vendegnia. === Radioactive Clothing === Radioactive Clothing is a home video made by Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold as well as a few friends for entertainment use only. In the video, which is fifteen minutes and eighteen seconds long, Eric and Dylan portray government agents sent out to "take out another one of those radioactive clothes-infested camps". The boys, who are being driven in the backseat of a car by two other agents (Bowsky and Taggart) claim that they have been doing these kinds of jobs for two months, and they keep getting harder. Upon arriving at the location, the four meet up with a fifth agent, Tex, and they start gearing up; the boys open the trunk of the car and start handing out and choosing the weapons they will use. After gearing up, they enter a home and proceed to search the basement. Upon going further, they encounter the clothes and take them out periodically. Before leaving, the team rigs an explosive in the living room before heading outside to their vehicles. They put away their weapons, and the video concludes with Eric and Dylan smoking a cigarette. === The Basement Tapes === Beginning in the middle of March and ending in late April of 1999, the pair began filming themselves in what would be known as the Columbine "Basement Tapes". In the videos, that have since been destroyed along with over tons of other Columbine evidence by Jefferson County, Eric and Dylan make it clear that they are about to launch the deadliest attack on their high school. They drink Jack Daniels whiskey and use profanity; referring to themselves on occasion as 'gods'. They also talk about students they hate and mock them. Later on, they poke fun at how well they were able to hide their misdeeds in collecting the weapons and supplies needed for the massacre. Dylan even went so far as to play the role of Eric's mother in entering his room to check it. Eric shows off all of his hiding places that contain pipe bombs, knives, gunpowder, and bomb-making equipment. He eventually shows the camera his Savage-Springfield 67H pump shotgun he refers to as 'Arlene', named after a character from Doom. Toward the end of the tapes, the pair began talking about how their parents were not at fault for what they were going to do. While Dylan was rough around the edges in using his words, Eric was more sympathetic and generally showed remorse in the tapes. They show the clothes they will wear when their 'judgment day' arrives. They bequeath their technology (computers, games, etc.) to both Chris Morris and Nate Dykeman. Finally, on April 20, they both say their final goodbyes to their friends and families. === Breakfast Run === Breakfast Run, originally titled "American Dream", was a home video intended for a class project for Dylan Klebold. The video, which is eight minutes and twenty-seven seconds long, features Dylan, Eric Harris, Dustin Gorton, who is driving the 1972 Chevy Chevelle, and Eric Jackson (the cameraman) ordering from a Burger King before going to Columbine and eating in the student parking lot. It is particularly one of the most popular of Eric and Dylan's home videos mainly due to some of its content and background. Prior to it being filmed, Dylan was overly concerned about his grades. Ironically, Breakfast Run was allegedly filmed on April 19, 1999, the day before the massacre at Columbine. While the shootings were going on, Eric Jackson, the friend who filmed the video, still had the tape in his backpack.
