*Eric claimed to hate people who hurt other animals, but boasted about hurting animals himself.
*It's widely believed that Eric contradicted himself by saying he hated people who harmed animals yet would harm them himself.  This is untrue.  Although Eric contradicts himself many times in his writings and in life, he had a soft spot for animals.  Especially his own pets and his dog Sparky, who he adored.  Sparky had begun to have epileptic seizures in the weeks before the massacre and Eric even took time off work to be at home and close to the dog.  He didn't want to leave it alone and feared losing it to a seizure.  This information was reiterated by Susan Dewitt after spending time with him at his home on prom night.  There are also multiple other mentions, in the 11k, about how much Eric cared for and doted on Sparky.  There are currently no reliable sources of factual material online or offline that state that Eric was in to perverse torture and torment of animals.  Sparky was a Yorkshire terrier and is believed to have passed away a few weeks after Eric did.

*Eric directly inspired Randy Stair and Vladislav Roslyakov to commit their respective mass shootings in 2017 and 2018. Eric would also inspire Brenton Tarrant, John T. Earnest, Patrick Crusius and Payton Gendron to commit their respective mass shootings. Additionally, Eric himself was inspired by Timothy McVeigh in committing the attack.

*Dylan Klebold's and Eric Harris's friendship was so strong that there was a rumor at Columbine that the two were dating.
*After the massacre, a lot of people kept confusing Eric for another Eric from the school that also wore a trench coat.  The other Eric wore goth clothing, had horns on his hat, and would do the things that most people accuse(d) Eric Harris and Dylan of doing.  Such as stated by Evan Todd: "Columbine is a clean, good place except for those rejects," Todd says of Klebold and Harris and their friends. "Most kids didn't want them there. They were into witchcraft. They were into voodoo dolls. Sure, we teased them. But what do you expect with kids who come to school with weird hairdos and horns on their hats? It's not just jocks; the whole school's disgusted with them. They're a bunch of homos, grabbing each other's private parts. If you want to get rid of someone, usually you tease 'em. So the whole school would call them homos, and when they did something sick, we'd tell them, 'You're sick and that's wrong.'".  In this statement Evan Todd was confusing Eric Harris with the actions of the other Eric.  The other Eric wore a trench coat and hung out frequently with a guy named Robert who was tall and wore his hair similar to Dylan's hairstyle.
*People assumed that Eric and Dylan were part of the Trench Coat Mafia because they wore trench coats but this assumption is wrong. Thus, when talking about Eric and Dylan, some students confused them with other people who wore trench coats or were considered outcasts.  The Washington Post stated: “In recent days, the pair seemed even odder than before — at least in retrospect, students said. ‘You would see them sort of marching down the hall together with their berets, dark glasses, their boots and their makeup.’”.  Eric (nor Dylan) had never worn makeup or a beret.  These assumptions, rumors and inconsistencies are what have made the case so confusing to the public over the past 22 years.  It is also what contributed to post Columbine's version of what was referred to as "Satanic Panic" in the 1980's, but in reference towards the goth subculture.
