Franz Stangl (March 26th, 1908 - June 28th, 1971) was an Austrian born SS commandent of Sobibor and Treblinka extermination camps and was part of Action T4, the euthanasia programme which claimed the lives of thousands of people who were "judged incurably sick, by critical medical examination.
Stangl never saw prisoners as human beings but merely as "cargo" and never expressed remorse for his crimes. He admitted to the killings but he also said "My conscience is clear I was simply doing my duty."
