After some other failed attempts Princip finished the job by jumping in front of the car Ferdinand was in and gave to shots killing not only Ferdinand but also his wife which was the start of World War I. He was sentenced to life imprisonment and died in prison of malnutrition, blood loss from his amputated arm and Tubercilosis.
