In 1934 he joined the Lithuanian Communist Party(LCP)1937-40 by the Folksblat pro-communist newspaper Responsible Secretary,Committee of the National Minorities Commission to the LCP Central Committee (CC;LCP Central Committee) chairman ( mainly concerned with the involvement of Jews in anti-state communist activities).1940-41 newspaper Truth respondent, 1945-70 editor-in-chief. 1941-42 Representative of the LCP CC and the Council of People's Commissars of the LSSR for the affairs of the evacuated Lithuanians in the Chelyabinsk Oblast, contributed to anti-German propaganda and co-organized Soviet partisans. 1942-43 Deputy Chief of the LCP CC and Lithuanian Guerrilla Movement Staff, 1943 Organized Soviet guerrilla activities in Belarus and Lithuania (Soviet guerrillas in Lithuania ). 1944 First Secretary of the LCP Southern Area Illegal Committee; Under his leadership, Soviet guerrillas attacked Nazi German soldiers and the occupation administration, terrorized villagers in southern Lithuania and punished them for their loyalty to the German administration.
