Six intruders broke into the store with the intent of robbing it and took five people in the store hostage. They were forced into the basement by two of the killers, who forced them to drink corrosive drain cleaner and shot them. Other violence included kicking a ballpoint pen into a victim's ear and the rape of a teenage girl. Three of the perpetrators - the killers, [[Dale Pierre]] and [[William Andrews]], and getaway driver [[Keith Roberts]] - were identified and convicted. Pierre and Andrews were executed for murder and aggravated robbery and Roberts was jailed for robbery.
