On March 27<sup>th</sup>, 2019; Patterson pleaded guilty to two counts of intentional first-degree homicide and one count of kidnapping. According to Patterson himself, he said he had planned to plead guilty to avoid the trauma from Jayme and her family having to attend the trial should he have pleaded otherwise.

It is likely that Patterson will be sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole.
 
On May 24<sup>th</sup>, 2019; Patterson was given two consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole for the murders plus 40 years for the kidnapping.
