James Brock
James Brock was a racist hotel manager who, in a now-famous photo, poured acid on a black person in the pool.
1964 Monson Motor lodge protests edit
The protests began when Brock had civil rights activist Martin Luther King Jr arrested for trespass after he attempted to be served at the Monson Motor Lodge, a hotel owned by Brock. During the protests, a group of black and white activists jumped into the pool and Brock poured acid into the pool so they would get out. The protesters were then arrested.
Eventually, Brock was forced to integrate and desegregate the hotel. In revenge, the Ku Klux Klan firebombed the hotel.
