Their relationship was on-off and Jodi had discovered that Travis seeing another woman. On June 9, a group of his friends had decided to go to his house as they were concerned. A key was found to his master bedroom, where they found large pools of blood in the hallway leading to the master bathroom. He was found deceased in the shower with around 27 to 29 stab wounds, along with a gunshot wound to the head and a slit throat. There were many indications that Arias was responsible for the killing. His friends had stated that Alexander himself had said that Arias had accessed his Facebook account. In addition to that, she had also slashed his car tires and was stalking him. Arias initially stated that she had not been in Mesa during the day of the murder. She also stated that she had not seen Alexander since March 2008. She later changed her story and said that two intruders had broken into Alexander's home and had killed him and attacked her. She changed her story again, two years after being arrested. That time, she stated she had killed him in self defense as he had been abusive towards her. In April 2015, she was sentenced to life without parole for murdering Alexander.
