John Eleuthère du Pont (November 22nd, 1938 – December 9th, 2010) was a philanthropist who was convicted of the January 26th, 1996 murder of freestyle wrestler Dave Schultz. He had paranoid schizophrenic and believed that people would break into his home and had a variety of security features installed in his home. He was found guilty, but was mentally ill. He was sentenced to 30 years in prison and was incarcerated at State Correctional Institution – Laurel Highlands in Somerset Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania. He died on December 9th, 2010 having served almost half of the sentence that was imposed on him.
