Jorge Rafael Videla

Jorge Rafael Videla was an Argentine military officer and dictator of Argentina from his coup de'tat in 1976 to 1981. The actual dictatorship ceased in 1983. During this period like many other South American dictators like Augusto Pinochet Videla had thousands arrested, killed, tortured or forcedly disappeared. He also had babies of mothers born in detention centres adopted by supporters of the regime. After the trial of the juntas he was sentenced to life imprisonment and died in 2013 at the age of 87 after injuries suffered from a fall in the shower.
