==Trial and execution==
Josef Kramer was imprisoned at the Hamelin jail. Josef Kramer and 44 other camp staff were tried in the [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belsen_Trial Belsen Trial] by a British military court at [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L%C3%BCneburg Lüneburg]. The trial lasted several weeks from September to November 1945. During the trial [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anita_Lasker-Wallfisch Anita Lasker] testified that he took part in selections for the gas chamber.<sup class="reference" id="cite_ref-witness_1-0">[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_Kramer#cite_note-witness-1 [1]]</sup> He was sentenced to death on November 17<sup>th</sup>, 1945 and [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hanged hanged] at Hamelin jail by [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albert_Pierrepoint Albert Pierrepoint] on December 13<sup>th</sup>, 1945.
