His motive was [[racism]]. He was a former member of both the [[Ku Klux Klan]] and the [[National States' Rights Party]]. He also attacked Larry Flynt, paralyzing him from the waist down. Franklin was convicted of several murders and received six life sentences, as well as the death sentence. He was executed by lethal injection on November 20, 2013.
