Juranas Vaicius

Yesterday homeless man Juranas Vaicius (born 1974) commited suicide who was sentenced to life in prison in Lukiskes Remand Prison.The lats conviction was heard by J.Vaicius in February 2005, eight times . A dangerous recidivist who did not accumulate any property was ordered to pay 66,000 Litas to the parents of murdred female artist for damages.At the last word given before the verdict , Mr. Vaicius did not repent of his scandalous acts, merely asking not to severly punish two accomplices.The homeless man , his first victim ,73-year old pensioner Alexandra Popova who lived on the Silute Highway ,strangled to death in January 2003 while she was drunk.He did so in anger at whom the woman demanded o leave her apartment.That same month, he strangled to death 56-year old Alfonsas Mileska for a similar reason. In March 2003,J.Vaicius and two accomplices came to Zofija Simaitiene, a resident of Paris Commune Street, and demanded money and vodka.The woman refused to give them and was strangled bya telephone cord. On January 1,2004,J.Vaicius strangled the owner of apartment, a well-known 36-year-old artist Evelina Strigauskaite, wtih a dog's leash.The killer broguth more than 14,000 litas cost computer equipment used for work,as well as other items , even a souvenir toy. After killong E.Strigauskaite , J.Vaicius dropped a dog of the late Siberian laika , called Pasvaiste , from the roof of 84 house on Silute highway.The dog died.Smothered the victims , Mr.Vaicius covered them warmly and in almost all cases , lived for some time in their hommes All the people killed were living alone.J.Vaicius aso ended his life in a loop. On the bed of a rope made from a torn sweater , the body of a murdered hanger was found ina cell at 6.30pm yesterday. His death was reported by another convict in the same cell. the watchmen did not notice the suicide of J.Vaicius, as he hung up while lying down. According to unofficial information , the prisoner did not leave the farewell letter.
