On 29 December 2019, Kinnunen entered the West Freeway Church of Christ with a sawed-off shotgun and opened fire, killing two men, Anton Wallace and Richard White. Within six seconds of opening fire, Kinnunen was shot in the head by congregant Jack Wilson, killing him instantly.
