Khaled Mashal was the head of Hamas from 2004 until 2017. After the organization's foundeing, he served as the leader of its Kuwaiti branch. He later moved from Kuwait to Jordan, later moving to Qatar and then Syria. He was later banned from Jordan after being accused of disrupting Israeli-Palestinian peace efforts. Mashal also supported various Hamas suicide bombings.
