Kristallnacht or the night of Broken Glass was a series of pogroms (a series of violent attacks) on the Jews of Germany on 9-10 november 1938 carried out by German civillains and members of the SA whilst the German authorities looked on and did nothing. The end result was the streets being covered with broken glass from Jewish owned stores, buildings and synagogues
