===Early life=== Daluege, son of aĀ PrussianĀ state official, was born in the smallĀ Upper SilesianĀ town ofĀ KreuzburgĀ (now Kluczbork) on 15 September 1897. He entered theĀ Prussian ArmyĀ in 1916 and served with the 7th Guards Infantry Regiment.Ā He served on theĀ Eastern Front of [[World War I]]. In October 1917, he attended officers training in Doberitz. During his service on theĀ Western Front, he was severely wounded in the head and shoulder. He was hospitalised and declared 25% disabled. Daluege was awarded theĀ Iron Cross, second class (1918) and theĀ Wound BadgeĀ in Black (1918).
