La Linea is an enforcer gang or armed wing of the Juarez Cartel. It began in the late 1990's as corrupt police officers protecting the cartel's leader, Amado Carrillo Fuentes. They were known as a line, hence the group's name(The Line in Spanish) Since then, they have been responsible for many massacres around Chihuahua state, as well as attacks against journalists and American officials, and clashes with Sinaloa Cartel-linked gangs. Most recently, on November 4, 2019 they were involved in the massacre of a group of American-Mexicans, some of which were children. Because the families they killed held dual citizenship, the massacre has brought the group and its parent organization attention from the USA, notably in the form of that country's President Donald Trump threatening to use force against them and other Mexican drug cartels.
