Lawrence Hodge is a former Kentucky sheriff who was indicted on charges of extortion, distributing drugs and money laundering in a corruption scandal. Much of the evidence focused around his friend, attorney Ron Reynolds, offering criminals arrested on drug or gun charges misdemeanour charges instead of felonies in return for bribes paid to Hodge. During the investigation, journalist Adam Sulfridge was approached by armed thugs who were friends of Hodge's and scared them away by drawing a gun. Hodge was sentenced to 15 years in prison along with several associates.
