The Confederate Army of Northern Virginia in the [[American Civil War]]’s battle flag, commonly known as the Confederate Flag became a widely-used symbol of the slaveholding [[Confederate States of America]] after their defeat, and the pseudohistorical "Lost Cause" mythos that followed. The flag was often used to express racial animus during moments of widespread civil rights and labour activism, and is often associated with a variety of racist and far-right views.
