'''Martin Shkreli''' (March 17<sup>th</sup>, 1983 -) is an Albanian-American businessman and hedge fund manager, who founded Elea Capital, MSMB Capital Management, and MSMB Healthcare. Shkreli is also the founder and former CEO of Turing Pharmaceuticals.

In September 2015, Shkreli, who received the nickname "Pharma Bro" received widespread scrutiny for raising the prices on anti-parasitic drug Daraphrim, which was used to treat pnuemonia in AIDS patients, by 5000% from $13.50 to $750 a pill. The move was criticized by numerous organizations, and candidates of both parties during the 2016 presidential election, including Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, and [[Donald Trump]]. This lead to him being coined the "Most Hated Man in America". Some people described him has "having a punchable face", and one person even threw what was apparently dog feces at Shkreli's face. His tactic ultimately led him to become the face of capitalistic greed.

Shkreli is also infamous for obtaining the only copy of the Wu-Tang Clan album, ''Once Upon a Time in Shaolin'', where he adamantly refuses to release the album and threatens to destroy the album. However, the copy was seized by law enforcement, relinquishing Shkreli's ownership.

==Trial==
Martin Shkreli was arrested on December 17<sup>th</sup>, 2015 by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Shkreli was charged with 8 counts of securities fraud. Charges were filed after an investigation into his tenure at is other companies, which is similar to that of a Ponzi scheme. On August 14<sup>th</sup>, 2017, Shkreli was found guilty on two counts of securities fraud and was sentenced to seven years in prison, and had to pay fines up to $7.4 million. He is currently held at Federal Correctional Institution, Allenwood Low.

Despite his sociopathic actions, Shkreli has a large following defending him on YouTube dislike bombing videos showing Shkreli in a neutral or critical manner.
