'''Mary Flora Bell''' (May 26<sup>th</sup>, 1957 - ) is a British woman who strangled two young boys to death when she was 11 years old. She was convicted of manslaughter in the year 1968, and is currently free.

==Biography==

===Early Life===
Mary was born to a prostitute who was often absent from the home. The identity of her biological father is unknown, though it is speculated that her biological father was a criminal. It has also been speculated that [[Betty McCrickett|Mary's mother]] had made multiple attempts on her daughter's life, and tried to make her murder look like an accident. Mary's mother also forced her into doing sexual acts with her employers. Mary was also shown as being a very violent individual and would constantly attack her peers. It took time, however, for her actions to become fatal.

==The Murders==
On May 25<sup>th</sup>, 1968, Mary tempted a young boy, named Martin Brown into coming with her into a derelict house. It is there that she strangled him to death. Later on, she enlisted her friend, [[Norma Bell|Norma Joyce Bell]], into helping her murder three-year-old Brian Howe. Mary arrived to the crime scene later on, and proceeded to carve the letter "N" in the corpse's stomach. She later changed it to "M." Mary also used a pair of scissors to mutilate the young boy's penis and legs.

==The Trial==

On December 17<sup>th</sup>, 1968, the two accomplices were found guilty of murder. [[Norma Bell|Norma]] was acquitted, but Mary herself was found guilty of manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility, and she was sentenced to life at the Red Bank Secure. This facility would later house [[Robert Thompson and Jon Venables|Jon Venables]]. Mary was later transported to an adult prison.

==Later life==
In 1980, Mary (23 at the time) was released from the Askham Grange open prison after she had served 12 years. She was also granted anonymity, and currently goes by a different name. Mary later had a daughter with an unknown man, and the daughter did not know about her mother's darkside, until reporters arrived to their house. They immediately left the house with bed sheets over their heads. She is currently a grandmother.
