'''Michael John Devlin''' (born November 19, 1965) is an American man who abducted 11-year-old Shawn Hornbeck and held him captive for four years. He also abducted 13-year-old Ben Ownby and held him for five days before he was discovered. He is currently serving 4240 years in prison at Western Missouri Correctional Centre. 

==Biography==
Devlin was adopted as a child and grew up in Webster Groves, Missouri. At the time of his arrest he was working as a manager for Imo's Pizza in Kirkwood, Missouri, and also had a part-time job at a funeral home. 

On October 6, 2002, 11-year-old Shawn Hornbeck was riding his bike to a friend's house in Richwoods, Missouri, when he was bumped by Devlin's pickup truck, knocking him off his bike. Devlin told Hornbeck he was in the wrong place at the wrong time before dragging him into his truck and driving away. Hornbeck was not found despite the establishment of the Shawn Hornbeck Foundation, a non-profit group dedicated to locating him. Meanwhile, Hornbeck was taken back to Devlin's apartment, where he would live for the next four years. Devlin forced Hornbeck to pretend to be his son, threatening to kill him if he tried to escape. Devlin physically abused Hornbeck and raped him both orally and anally several times a day. Devlin eventually allowed Hornbeck to go outside and use a mobile phone once he was confident he would not try to escape. 

Eventually, four years and three months after Hornbeck's abduction, Devlin decided Hornbeck was too old for him and he had to abduct another boy. On January 8, 2007, he abducted 13-year-old Ben Ownby from a bus stop in Beaufort, Missouri. He took Ownby back to his apartment, where he began raping him orally and anally. He would also perform oral sex on him himself while molesting him. In the five days of Ownby's captivity, Devlin raped or molested him around three times a day.

However, a fifteen-year-old near the bus stop had witnessed Ownby's abduction and alerted police to the white truck used in the abduction. Five days after the abduction, police were at Devlin's apartment building for an unrelated reason when an officer noticed the truck in the parking lot. Upon confirming it was the same truck, police ascertained that Devlin was the owner. Raiding his apartment, they found both Ownby and Hornbeck playing video games. Fresh traces of semen with Devlin's DNA were found in Ownby's mouth and anal cavity. 

Devlin was charged with two counts of kidnapping and 71 counts of sodomy and attempted sodomy. He was also charged in Federal court with four counts of producing child pornography, relating to photos and videos taken of Hornbeck while Devlin was abusing him, and two counts of transporting a minor across state lines for sexual purposes, relating to a trip to Illinois that Devlin had taken Hornbeck on during which he raped Hornbeck. Devlin pleaded guilty to all charges. He was sentenced to 74 consecutive life sentences on the state charges, plus an additional 2020 years on the Federal charges. As Missouri law defines a life sentence as 30 years, Devlin's total sentence is 4240 years imprisonment. 

Devlin was hospitalized in April 2011 after another inmate stabbed him several times with an ice pick he had fashioned out of a metal bar from his typewriter. After the attack officials contemplated transferring Devlin to a different prison under a new identity for his own safety, but the plans were dropped and Devlin remains incarcerated at the Western Missouri Correctional Centre.
