Millard Fillmore (January 7, 1800 – March 8, 1874) was the 13th President of the United States.

He was vice president to Zachary Taylor and after his death he assumed the presidency. During his presidency he signed the Fugitive Slave Act of 1850 which was authored by James Murray Mason to empower slave owners to hunt down their runaway slaves. He also joined the Know Nothings after his presidency which was a xenophobic and anti-catholic political party.
